Job description

Job Description

Director of Nursing plans, organizes, develops, and directs community clinical and medication programs in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act, and within standards of clinical practice as defined by the American Nurses Association. Informs and collaborates with the Executive Director regarding clinical concerns and compliance issues, providing recommendations for resolution. Serves as a clinical resource for community staff.

  1. Provide nursing care to residents, including health assessments, care plan development and review with residents and families, discussing condition changes with physicians, and implementing interventions to reduce falls based on individual needs. Also includes medication administration and assisting with resident care as needed.
  2. Ensure timely assessments and accurate care plans in the electronic health record, and communicate with the Business Office Manager regarding additional care for accurate billing.
  3. Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with state regulations, policies, and procedures.
  4. Be available to work on-call shifts as needed.
Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A valid Nursing License (RN preferred, LPN or LVN acceptable depending on state requirements).
  • Current Nursing License for the state of the community.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, or Gerontology is preferred.
  • At least 1-2 years of management experience.
  • Experience in community, acute, skilled, or long-term care settings, with geriatric assessment skills and knowledge of geriatric and dementia care.
  • Ability to train staff, assess systems, and implement improvements. Organized and self-directed.
  • Meet state-specific qualifications and training requirements.
  • Basic computer skills including email, documents, spreadsheets, and data entry.
