Job description

Position Details

This is a remote position based in TX. The manager prefers candidates near Austin or San Antonio but is open to applicants from the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Candidates in NM may also be considered if necessary.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure accurate and timely clinical review of behavioral health cases for medical necessity.
2. Assist members via telephone.
3. Review medical records and cases involving contract interpretation of behavioral health diagnoses.
4. Utilize knowledge of medical necessity criteria across all levels of behavioral health care, from outpatient visits to inpatient care.

Job Requirements

• Masters-level Behavioral Health Professional with an active, current license to practice independently.
• Current clinical license in the state of operation with good standing.
• At least 3 years of clinical experience in a psychiatric setting or running a behavioral health practice.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with PC and database systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Utilization review experience.
