Job summary

Church Homes Incorporated dba Avery Heights/Noble Horizons in Hartford, CT seeks a Director of Plant Operations to oversee maintenance, groundskeeping, housekeeping, laundry, safety and security, transportation and telecom services across the campus.

You will lead preventive maintenance, budget planning, inventory control, compliance with building codes and safety requirements, and coordinate with outside contractors to keep facilities in excellent condition while supporting resident care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years experience in a supervisory maintenance/plant role.
• Knowledge of boilers, compressors, generators, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze data and perform budgeting and financial planning.
• Experience with inventory control and purchasing processes.
• Proficient computer and office software skills.
• Proven leadership and staff development abilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct activities of Plant Ops, Maintenance, Groundskeeping, Housekeeping, Laundry, Security, Transportation and Telecommunications.
• Report department status to Chief Operating Officer regularly.
• Execute work orders and preventive maintenance to keep facilities in good repair.
• Liaise with outside contractors, evaluate in-house vs contractor work, and supervise contracts.
• Develop and manage operating budgets and control expenses.
• Maintain inventory levels, process purchase orders, and evaluate pricing.
• Ensure regulatory inspections and safety protocols are followed.
• Develop department policies, job descriptions and standardized methods.
• Recruit, train and supervise department staff; conduct performance evaluations.
• Attend workshops/seminars and stay updated on industry trends.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Administrator.
