Job summary

Moxie is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead a ~60-engineer organization and drive the company’s AI strategy across product and software lifecycle. You will partner with the Head of Engineering and Product leadership, shaping the engineering culture and operating cadence in a fast-moving, remote-first environment.

You will own delivery, staffing, and engineering strategy, maturing practices to enable AI-powered software development and scalable growth across the product suite.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering leadership and at least 3 years leading managers and technical leaders.
• Management depth: led 30-60 person engineering organization through multiple EMs, setting a consistent management bar.
• Operating rigor: built KPI systems (DORA, cycle time, reliability) that drive action.
• Proven experience building production AI and agentic systems with clear evals, observability, security, and cost considerations.
• Technical judgment: comfortable with system design, architecture reviews, and agile/devops processes.
• Comfort with delegation: built and shaped engineering orgs, hiring strategy, and collaboration with founders.

Responsibilities

• Become the clear leader of Engineering, overseeing 60 engineers and running the Product and Engineering operating cadence.
• Mature and measure engineering performance, implementing improvements with measurable gains.
• Lead AI strategy, drive AI initiatives into production, and embed AI-assisted development in the operating model.
• Set an opinionated technical roadmap aligning with product and company priorities.
