Job summary

WM is seeking a Director, Corporate Engineering to lead its engineering function across landfill operations, renewable energy assets, and compliance. You will shape engineering standards, lead capital planning, drive operational excellence, and align activities with safety, sustainability, regulatory, and financial goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience in solid waste/landfills.
• Experience leading large-scale capital projects and engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of engineering design, asset management, and project execution.
• Proven ability to partner with operations and executive leadership.
• Strong financial, analytical, and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly landfill capital projects submitted for WM investment committee reviews.
• Oversee annual Engineer Training Program including recruiting and program management.
• Provide technical support for Enterprise Risk programs and Wastewater Solutions team.
• Own the P&L of the corporate Engineering Team with SG&A and related expenses (~$3.5M+).
• Lead a 10+ person team, budgeting and forecasting of LF Capital and Final Capping.
• Oversee WM CAD team, airspace policies, and annual reports.
