Job summary

Northeastern University is seeking a Director of Outreach & Programming to lead the Office of City & Community Engagement in Boston. You will develop and evaluate community programs, build partnerships with residents, businesses, and organizations, and drive initiatives that connect campus resources with local neighborhoods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in community/civic engagement, program management and strategic planning for a higher education institution or nonprofit organization.
• Ability to take initiative and demonstrate follow-through.
• Comfort in a fast-paced environment with different personalities.
• Strong relationship-oriented and results-driven mindset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with attention to detail.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Strong program planning, organization, supervision, and budget management.
• Willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends.
• Knowledge of the Boston community, especially Roxbury, Mission Hill, Fenway, and South End.

Responsibilities

• Generate and facilitate partnerships and programs for residents, businesses, and community organizations surrounding Northeastern’s Boston campus.
• Refine systems for tracking, collecting and sharing program outcomes and knowledge.
• Oversee program creation and development with new collaboration pathways.
• Attend relevant events and engagement activities to deepen community ties.
• Assist in developing an external identity for Northeastern’s community programs.
• Develop outreach strategies for Northeastern Crossing and future community spaces.
• Support CCE staff in planning and implementing programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
