Job summary

Northeastern University is seeking a Director of Outreach and Programming to develop, coordinate, administer, and evaluate community programs through the Office of City & Community Engagement (CCE) in Boston. You will lead partnerships, manage initiatives, and engage diverse community groups, residents and local businesses.

The role requires strategic planning, strong communication, and budget oversight, with a focus on collaboration across campus and local neighborhoods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• At least 5 years in community/civic engagement, community development, program management and strategic planning for higher education or nonprofit.
• Ability to take creative initiative and follow-through.
• Comfortable in fast-paced environment with diverse personalities.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolve skills.
• Relationship-oriented and results-driven with strong communication.
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
• Skilled in planning and running programs and managing budgets.
• Knowledge of Boston community areas: Roxbury, Mission Hill, Fenway, South End.

Responsibilities

• Generate and facilitate partnerships and programs serving residents, businesses, and community organizations around Northeastern’s Boston campus.
• Refine systems for tracking, measuring and sharing program outcomes and learnings.
• Oversee program creation and development with emphasis on innovative collaboration.
• Attend events and engagement activities to deepen community ties with stakeholders.
• Assist in developing external identity for Northeastern’s community programs.
• Help shape outreach strategy for Northeastern Crossing and community spaces.
• Support CCE staff in planning and implementing new and existing programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
