Director of Business Development – CDMO (Drug Product, Fill-Finish)

Location: United States (Remote-Based, Domestic Travel Required)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Director of Business Development to join a high-growth CDMO focused on complex drug product manufacturing, aseptic fill-finish services, and combination product and device assembly. This role is instrumental in expanding the commercial footprint across the US and will focus exclusively on identifying and securing new business opportunities within the clinical and commercial pharmaceutical sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to source and convert new business opportunities
  • Identify potential clients in need of sterile fill-finish or combination product services
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and client meetings across the domestic market
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders in pharma and biotech, particularly in development-stage companies
  • Work with technical and project teams to align client needs with internal capabilities
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory developments and competitor activity

Requirements

  • At least five years’ business development or commercial experience within a CDMO or pharma services environment
  • Strong understanding of sterile manufacturing, aseptic fill-finish, and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrable track record of winning new business, particularly for clinical and commercial drug product supply
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the US
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • Able to work independently in a remote role while maintaining close collaboration with internal teams

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to pre-filled syringe, cartridge or vial filling
  • Knowledge of combination product/device assembly and packaging
  • Background in biologics or complex small molecules is a plus
  • Scientific or technical degree preferred
