Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of EHS Operations to lead world-class safety programs across manufacturing facilities and operations. The role focuses on developing strategy, supporting a proactive safety culture, and ensuring compliance throughout GAF and its facilities.

The position reports to the Vice President of Environmental, Health and Safety and supports EHS staff and programs with data-driven governance and training, while enabling a culture of safety excellence across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10 years EHS experience, 5 years management of others.
• Ability to adapt to changing needs while maintaining client success.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with stakeholders.
• Ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated openness to change and adaptability.
• Ability to motivate teams and manage multiple projects.
• Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite Office.
• Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute a comprehensive EHS strategy aligning with business objectives.
• Champion a proactive, behavior-based safety culture across all sites.
• Lead enterprise-wide EHS risk assessment and embed PSM and industrial hygiene best practices.
• Develop and govern integrated EHS systems using data analytics and digital platforms.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and governance over all EHS standards and initiatives.
• Oversee incident investigation and root-cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
• Lead, mentor, and coach EHS professionals and leadership with training programs.
• Travel up to 50% domestically.
