Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector is seeking a Director Business Development 2 to shape and execute the Weapon Systems Division’s growth strategy. This role leads capture and BD activities across a portfolio of programs, builds strong customer relationships, and drives winning strategies aligned to division objectives.

The position is located in northern Virginia (McLean preferred) with relocation possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.
• 15+ years in business development, capture management, or program management in defense or aerospace.
• International experience with DoD/government; ITAR and offsets awareness.
• Demonstrated awards and pipeline growth at OU and BU levels.
• Experience leading complex captures or growth initiatives in weapons systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive business development and growth strategy for the Weapon Systems Division.
• Achieve awards to support annual operating and long-range strategic plans.
• Build and manage a robust pipeline aligned with key market areas.
• Lead stakeholder engagements and represent the division in customer reviews and events.
• Coordinate messaging and storytelling across stakeholder engagements.
• Support keep-it-sold campaigns for existing programs.
• Align with enterprise gates, processes, and training across global stakeholders.
• Lead opportunity identification and prioritization across markets and customers.
• Serve as capture lead or executive sponsor on high-priority pursuits.
• Provide leadership to BD and capture teams and develop talent.
• Collaborate with PM, engineering, and functional teams to shape solutions.
• Monitor market trends and provide investment insights.
• Deliver regular updates to leadership on pipeline health and growth.
