Job summary

Ally Financial seeks a Director of Consumer Underwriting to provide strategic oversight and operational leadership for an assigned territory. You will guide underwriting policy, ensure risk controls, and deliver exceptional customer service while building a high-performing team of underwriters.

Based in Michigan/Illinois area, you will lead a team, set annual objectives, mentor staff, and collaborate with cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

• 9+ years experience in underwriting and/or auto finance required.
• Leadership experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in business preferred.
• Ability to provide advice/direction in primary areas of expertise.
• Ability to leverage technical expertise and relationships to contribute to strategy and drive business results.
• Technical knowledge, project management, and ability to influence others.

Responsibilities

• Oversee consumer underwriting strategy and internal operations for an assigned territory.
• Lead a team of Consumer Underwriters to achieve business results.
• Develop annual objectives and monitor performance.
• Mentor underwriting staff and address performance issues.
• Identify dealer opportunities and grow Ally's portfolio in territory.
• Collaborate with matrix partners to identify opportunities.
• Travel frequently as remote/WFH role requires travel.
