Ally is hiring a Director of Consumer Underwriting to provide strategic oversight for an assigned territory and to lead a team of Consumer Underwriters in delivering strong customer service and risk controls.

The role requires 9+ years in underwriting or auto finance, leadership experience, and a Bachelor's degree. Expect collaboration with cross-functional partners and opportunities across Detroit and Downers Grove markets as part of Ally’s total rewards package.

Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. The Opportunity

The Director of Consumer Underwriting is responsible for the strategic oversight and internal operations for an assigned territory. Ensures appropriate controls are in place to mitigate risk and adherence to established corporate policies and procedures while pursuing operating objectives. Provides oversight in the evaluation and decisioning of consumer offerings within Ally underwriting policies. The Director will lead a team of Consumer Underwriters to achieve business results while developing and maintaining a high level of customer service.

The desired candidates in the Michigan and Illinois area will be within a 50 mile radius of the Ally Detroit Center (500 Woodward, Detroit, MI) OR Downers Grove RBC (3333 Finley, Downers Grove, IL)

The Work Itself

• Internal leveraging of information between other areas of expertise.
• Actively engage matrix partners to identify areas of opportunity within assigned territory.
• Continually identify and develop company talent.
• Mentor Consumer Underwriting staff.
• Establish annual objectives and monitor on-going performance.
• Address performance concerns and employee issues as appropriate.
• Continually seek and develop dealer opportunities (application penetration, capture rates, etc), manage conquest efforts, and work to grow Allies portfolio within assigned territory.
• Miscellaneous items - handle assigned projects from senior leadership.

The Qualifications We're Looking For

• 9+ years experience in underwriting and/or auto finance required
• Leadership experience required
• Bachelor’s degree in business preferred
• Ability to provide advice/direction in primary areas of expertise.
• Ability to leverage technical expertise and relationships to contribute to strategy and drive business results.
• Technical knowledge, project management, and ability to influence others.
  

Minimum Qualifications

• 9+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• High school Diploma or GED equivalent

Base Pay Range

$135,000.00 - $235,000.00

An individual’s position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.

Incentive Compensation:

This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
