Job summary

Akima in Herndon, VA seeks a Director, Capture Management to lead pre-proposal shaping, capture activities, and post-submittal efforts to improve win probability on large-scale opportunities. The role reports to the VP of Business Development for the Technology Solutions & Products Group and requires a strategic yet hands-on approach.

Candidates should have a track record of winning $50M–$100M+ captures, strong proposal skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Experience winning $50M to $100M+ single-award captures.
• Hybrid position; reside within commuting distance from Herndon, VA.
• Four-year degree from an accredited university.
• Experience with DoD and FedCiv customers a plus.
• Strong presentation and proposal writing skills.
• Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams with varying levels of experience.

Responsibilities

• Leads strategic capture activities for all assigned pursuits.
• Provides leadership on major business development and capture efforts from win strategy to post-submission.
• Briefs status to senior management at milestones.
• Directs plans to increase revenue, growth, and profit.
• Develops and implements capture plan, strategy, and partnerships.
• Leads win strategy development sessions (technical, management, pricing, etc.).
• Leads competitive assessments, teaming, and price-to-win efforts.
• Communicates customer hot buttons and needs to shape proposals.
• Aligns marketing intelligence with win strategy.
• Explains competitors’ trends and weaknesses to identify targets.
• Motivates teams to produce a winning solution.
• Works with proposal team to craft a differentiated ‘Why Akima’ story.
