General Description:

We are seeking a Director of Business Development Accounting to join our Corporate Accounting team. This role is highly visible within the organization and involves complex accounting topics related to business development, M&A, and collaboration transactions. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and research abilities. They must be proactive, deadline-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects effectively.

Essential Functions:

1. Play an integral role in strategic financial decision-making by analyzing the accounting implications of acquisitions, collaborations, investments, and other business development activities.
2. Assess accounting implications and risks related to new deal structures, contracts, and other transactions.
3. Ensure transactions are accounted for in accordance with US GAAP and assist with impacts on IFRS-related reporting jurisdictions (China and Hong Kong).
4. Serve as a key liaison between accounting and senior leadership on related matters.
5. Oversee and project manage external valuation specialists.
6. Lead internal control policies, procedures, and documentation related to business development accounting activities.
7. Lead ad hoc technical accounting projects and support SEC reporting.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

Qualifications:

• BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field with 10+ years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, especially concerning business combinations, collaborative arrangements, and investments in debt and equity securities.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Significant experience in business development/collaboration accounting within the life sciences sector is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to manage conflicting priorities and work under strict deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills.

Salary Range: $158,200 - $218,200 annually
