Ideal candidate has 10-12+ years in consumer insights with CPG experience, strong leadership, and a proven ability to present to senior executives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • 10-12+ years of relevant experience, including 6+ years with a client-side branded CPG company.
  • Food or beverage industry experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the consumer learning agenda for Tyson Foods' brands.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, R&D, Sales, and Supply Chain.
  • Supervise and develop a team with 2+ direct reports.
  • Distill consumer and market trends into actionable insights for brand strategies.
  • Lead forecasting accuracy initiatives to support demand planning and marketing decisions.
  • Present strategic recommendations to senior leadership and influence executives.

Summary

The Director and Senior Director, Consumer Insights & Strategy serves as a key strategic partner to cross-functional teams and oversees the development and application of consumer and business insights. This leader must be a forward-thinking professional who challenges the status quo and leverages research to uncover new opportunities and inform strategic business decisions. This individual provides research leadership for Tyson Foods' Prepared Foods business through extensive expertise in the understanding and application of front-end consumer research methodologies, including both quantitative and qualitative approaches. This role leverages a broad range of insights capabilities to understand consumer needs, evaluate market dynamics, identify innovation opportunities, and strengthen brand health. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable leading quantitative research initiatives and shaping consumer-driven business strategy. This individual will influence and develop team capabilities in both areas while serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership. Success in this role requires the ability to present strategic recommendations to company officers and effectively advocate for consumer-based brand strategies. This leader consistently demonstrates holistic thinking, strategic agility, and strong leadership across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities
  • The Director/Senior Director, Consumer Insights & Strategy is responsible for developing and leading the consumer learning agenda and ensuring consumer understanding is at the foundation of all business and brand strategies.
  • This position reports to the VP, Consumer Insights.
  • This individual will lead a team responsible for the development and execution of the consumer learning agenda for iconic brands such as Hillshire Farm, Ball Park, and Jimmy Dean.
  • Establish a consumer-centric organization by distilling key consumer and market trends into actionable insights that drive effective, consumer-focused marketing plans.
  • Assist in the development of marketing plans and long- and short-term strategies that support business objectives.
  • Proactively identify and implement innovative research methodologies that enable faster, consumer-informed decision making.
  • Supervise the execution, analysis, and application of primary and secondary research.
  • Lead the Forecasting Accuracy Initiative to guide fact- and consumer-based forecasting and support accurate demand planning.
  • Direct consumer testing protocols to generate meaningful learning throughout the innovation process.
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Research & Development, Sales, Supply Chain, agency partners, on-site suppliers, and Creative Services.
  • Build a culture of consumer focus through thought leadership, organizational training, proactive trend sharing, and talent recruitment activities.
  • Manage, coach, and develop professional direct reports.

  • Excellent planning, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Highly motivated leader with the ability to develop effective solutions in ambiguous or unstructured situations.
  • Supervisory Experience: Experience leading a team with 2+ direct reports, 2 years minimum.
Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Marketing or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.

10-12+ years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 6 years with a client-side branded consumer packaged goods (CPG) company. Food or beverage industry experience required.
