Scribd, Inc. is seeking a Director, Analytics Engineering to build and scale a high-performing team. You will establish an operating model, foster culture, and create technical foundations that enable trusted data and AI-enabled decision making across the company.

You will guide data modeling, governance, and tooling choices while collaborating with product, technology, content, and business teams to deliver measurable impact at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, BI engineering or related field.
• 5+ years leading and developing technical teams.
• Proven track record building governed data models and semantic layers.
• Experience designing data quality, observability, governance, privacy and lineage systems.
• Advanced SQL skills; production experience with modern data stack (AWS, Databricks, Looker).
• Ability to lead cross-functional data initiatives from strategy to production.
• Strong judgment balancing immediate needs with reusable data products and debt reduction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with technical teams, stakeholders, and executives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale Analytics Engineering, turning contributors into a cohesive team.
• Build canonical data models and semantic layers with trustworthy data foundations.
• Design data quality, observability, governance, and security systems at scale.
• Partner with Engineering to ensure data is captured, centralized, and governed.
• Align analytics investments with company priorities and drive business impact.
