Scribd, Inc. is seeking a Senior Manager, Data Engineering to lead a team building trusted, reusable data products powering analytics, experimentation, and AI.

You’ll guide architecture, review designs, and contribute hands-on where it delivers the greatest leverage, while establishing engineering standards and scalable data foundations. You’ll collaborate with Product, Analytics, Data Science, and Engineering to translate business needs into durable data solutions and drive cross-functional

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Data Engineering, Data Platform, or related data roles.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams with coaching and performance management.
• Deep expertise in building scalable data platforms and production-grade pipelines.
• Strong experience with dimensional modeling, data architecture, and reusable analytical datasets.
• Advanced SQL and Python/Scala or similar languages.
• Experience with distributed data processing frameworks such as Spark.
• Experience with cloud data platforms like Databricks, Delta Lake, Snowflake, or BigQuery.
• Proven track record driving complex cross-functional initiatives from concept to production.
• Experience leading technical architecture discussions and reviews.
• Strong technical judgment balancing delivery with long-term architecture.
• Excellent communication and ability to influence multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical, delivery, and people leadership for the Data Engineering team building data pipelines and reusable data products.
• Establish engineering standards for data modeling, pipeline design, reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
• Drive architecture discussions and design reviews for thoughtful technical decisions.
• Lead execution across multiple initiatives with clear priorities and dependencies.
• Coach and grow a team of Data Engineers with emphasis on ownership and collaboration.
• Collaborate with Product, Analytics, Data Science, and Engineering to translate business needs into scalable data solutions.
• Build cross-functional relationships balancing short-term delivery with long-term reusable data foundations.
• Partner with Data Platform Engineering to evolve platform capabilities.
