Job summary

Integrated Life Choices is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities lead meaningful lives. DSPs provide support in homes and community settings, maintain accurate shift documentation, and promote independence and self-advocacy.

Ideal candidates enjoy helping people, can work independently, and will assist with transportation, daily living activities, and personal care as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Background checks required: Nebraska Child/Adult Protective Services Central Registry check and Criminal background check.
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in various settings to help them lead meaningful lives.
• Maintain consistent engagement with the people you are supporting and provide accurate documentation for the support provided during every shift.
• Offer person-centered supports to meet people’s needs and encourage independent living and self-advocacy.
• Coordinate transportation for the people you support and assist with activities of daily living as needed.
• Assist with personal hygiene and medical-related needs, including medication administration.

As a DSP, you will be responsible for maintaining consistent engagement with the people you are supporting, whether they are at home or out in the community. You will be required to work independently, create safe environments, and provide accurate documentation for the support provided during every shift. Some physical work examples could be but are not limited to:Intervening in aggressive situation and/or physically demanding responsibilitiesSupport with lifting individuals to and from wheelchairsSupporting a person to and from a showerUsing a gait belt in a safe and dignified wayProviding transportation for the people we support is an essential function of the DSP position.
