• High School diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of checks including:Nebraska Child/Adult Protective Services Central Registry check, Criminal background check.
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance.

• Support people in understanding and exercising their rights.
• Encourage people to live a fulfilling life as independently as possible through self-advocacy.
• Provide person-centered supports to meet people’s needs throughout their lives.
• Support and encourage positive interactions.
• Improve social connections and relationships.
• Provide transportation for those you are supporting.
• Teaching skills to improve a person’s life.
• Support and encourage participation in groups or organizations to meet recreational and social needs.
• Utilize Positive Support Programs to guide daily interactions.
• Support a person with personal hygiene and medical-related needs, including medication administration.
• Provide documentation at the end of each shift.

As a DSP, you will be responsible for maintaining consistent engagement with the people you are supporting, whether they are at home or out in the community. Some physical work examples could be but are not limited to:Intervening in aggressive situation and/or physically demanding responsibilitiesSupport with lifting individuals to and from wheelchairsSupporting a person to and from a showerUsing a gait belt in a safe and dignified wayProviding transportation for the people we support is an essential function of the DSP position.
