Job summary

YAI - Seeing beyond disability is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support individuals at the START Resource Center in Kingston, NY. The role involves assisting with daily living activities, healthcare, and community integration in a respectful, person-centered manner.

The DSP will work Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00pm to 10:00pm, providing compassionate support, documenting progress, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to promote safety and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Effective written and oral communication skills and ability to document services for billing/tracking.
• Must be at least 18 years old and capable of handling physical demands.
• Must hold or obtain SCIP-R within one year of appointment and maintain required certifications (AMAP, CPR, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals in maximizing strengths, interests, and abilities with person-centered approaches.
• Supervise, protect, and care for individuals at all times and follow safety procedures.
• Provide health, wellness, and safety supervision and manage crisis situations.
• Document observations and data in electronic health records (DA/eMAR) and communicate with the team.
• Transport and accompany individuals to activities, appointments, and communities.
