Job summary

YAI is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in Northern Westchester to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across homes, day services, and community settings. DSPs work in various locations including residences, centers, and community sites, with full-time, part-time, weekday, and weekend schedules available.

Responsibilities include promoting independence, safety, and dignity, documenting progress, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to meet essential physical demands including frequent walking, standing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Effective written and oral communication skills including documentation for billing and tracking purposes.
• Enthusiasm for working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD).
• Ability to work beyond regularly scheduled hours to maintain minimum coverage.

Responsibilities

• Assists individuals in maximizing strengths and building positive relationships.
• Supports people to meet personal goals and encourages socializing in the community.
• Ensures health, wellness and safety through supervision and crisis management.
• Provides coverage for other direct support staff as needed and participates in team meetings.
• Maintains documentation, training, and compliance with policies and procedures.

Education

HS diploma or its educational equivalent
