Job summary

Venture Community Services Inc. is hiring a Direct Support Professional to empower adults 22+ with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You’ll support daily living activities, household tasks, and community involvement to help individuals live as independently as possible.

This part-time role pays $17.50–$19.00 per hour with paid training and a $500 sign-on bonus for part-time staff (full-time staff receive $1000). Schedule includes weekends and varied shifts.

Qualifications

• Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community and in their own lives.
• Varied interests and personal connections in the local community.
• Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer or school history).
• Ability to work as a creative, engaged, dedicated member of the team.
• 21+ with reliable transportation and valid driver's license
• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience working in a residential setting with highly behavioral individuals.
• Employees must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above, and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job. Employee must be able to speak, read, and write in fluent English.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the program and individuals supported. This may include holidays, overnights, or double-shifts.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for and support adults 22+ with disabilities to participate actively in daily life.
• Assist with household tasks, meals, shopping, grooming and personal care.
• Accompany and assist with medical appointments and community activities.
• Follow Behavior Support Plans and Individual Support Plans.
• Administer medications as prescribed and ensure safety during emergencies.
• Complete required trainings (orientation, CPR/First Aid, MAP, Defensive Driving, etc.).
