Job summary

Benhaven Inc is seeking Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with autism in their homes and the community. Enthusiastic applicants will provide support tailored to individual needs, encouraging independence and socialization. Positions available are part-time, with flexible hours in Hamden/North Haven. Must have experience with individuals with autism, a CT driver's license, and a registered vehicle. Benhaven values diversity and provides accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Must have experience working with individuals with autism.
• Must be able to pass a variety of background checks.
• Must have a CT driver's license.
• Applicant must have a registered and insured vehicle that can pass a safety inspection.
• Will train in PMT and CPR, if not already certified.

Benhaven is looking for Direct Support Professionals to work for our Individual & Family Supports assisting individuals with autism in their homes and the community. We are seeking enthusiastic and energetic applicants to provide support to our individuals.

Available positions listed below

Hamden/North Haven Part-Time: (23.5 hours) Mon & Tues 3p-9:30p; Saturday 8a-6:30p

Hamden/North Haven Part-Time: (11 hours) Thursday 3p-8p & Sunday 9a-3p

Responsibilities

The following duties are assigned to this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Encourage building skills for independence
• Encourage and assist in increasing socialization
• Encourage and assist individuals with the pursuit of vocational opportunities
• Assist and provide opportunities for individuals to participate in recreational activities

Experience & Requirements

• Must have experience working with individuals with autism.
• Must be able to pass a variety of background checks.
• Must have a CT driver's license.
• Applicant must have a registered and insured vehicle that can pass a safety inspection.
• Will train in PMT (physical management training) and CPR, if not already certified.
