Job summary

Winter Family Care is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) for the Lavaque House in Hermantown, MN. Employment is available full-time and part-time with daytime and overnight shifts, and a requirement to work every other weekend.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to use electronic documentation systems, including an electronic MAR.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
• Willingness to complete required orientation, training, and background study requirements.
• Previous direct care experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized, person-centered care and support.
• Assist with daily living activities and personal care.
• Support individuals in developing independence and life skills.
• Implement positive support strategies and individualized plans.
• Assist with medication administration and document using eMAR.
• Support community participation, appointments, and recreational activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate updates with the care team.

What You’ll Do

As a Direct Support Professional, you’ll play an important role in supporting individuals in their daily lives while encouraging independence, personal choice, and meaningful community involvement.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide individualized, person-centered care and support.
• Assist with daily living activities, personal care, and household responsibilities.
• Support individuals in developing and maintaining independence and life skills.
• Implement positive support strategies and individualized support plans.
• Assist with medication administration and accurately document medications using an electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR).
• Support community participation, appointments, and recreational activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate important updates with the care team.
• Promote a safe, respectful, and supportive living environment.
