Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health in Morehead City, NC seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to empower individuals with IDD by assisting with daily living tasks in home and community settings.

This part-time role runs 7 am–11 am, Monday to Friday, with travel to surrounding areas. You’ll perform housekeeping, meal prep, personal care, documentation in our electronic health system, and transportation, while building meaningful relationships.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position; on-the-job training provided.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols.
• Skills: interpersonal skills, attention to detail, dependability.
• Technology: proficiency with EHR systems or ability to learn.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home or community setting.
• Assist with daily tasks including housekeeping, meals, cooking, cleaning; personal care including bathing, dressing, toileting; and employment support.
• Transport client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize client schedules.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health record system.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in carrying out that mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

Position details: Part‑time, 7 am‑11 am, Monday‑Friday

Location: Morehead City, NC and surrounding areas with local community travel

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; and employment support.
• Transport the client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.
