Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health (ESPH) is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with IDD in their home and community settings in Lenoir, NC. You will help with daily living tasks, personal care, meal prep, housekeeping, transportation, and schedule management, while documenting care in the electronic health record.

Entry-level position with on-the-job training provided. A high school diploma or GED is required, and reliable transportation is necessary.

Qualifications

• Experience in caregiving or healthcare settings preferred but not required.
• Basic housekeeping, nutrition, and safety knowledge are expected.
• Good communication and reliable transportation are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living tasks like housekeeping, meal prep, cooking, and cleaning.
• Provide personal care such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and diaper changes.
• Transport the client to appointments and run errands as needed.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in carrying out that mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

Location: Lenoir, North Carolina

Compensation: $15.00/hour

Schedule: Saturday AM through Monday AM; Overnight stay is required during the rotation, but staff is off-duty and asleep for the night hours unless there is an emergency.

Your Role in Our Mission

You will provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.

• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
• You may transport the client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.
