Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help individuals with IDD complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals. You will provide care in clients’ homes and in the community, with local travel as needed. Work Monday–Friday with various hours and shifts.

The role includes on-the-job training, CPR/first-aid, and safety instruction. You will document daily activities in the electronic health system and support families by planning

Qualifications

• Entry-level position with on-the-job training provided.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Basic housekeeping, nutrition and safety knowledge.
• Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail and dependability.
• Familiarity with EHR software or willingness to learn.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in carrying out that mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

Position details: Monday – Friday, various hours and shifts available. Location: Wilmington, NC (Ogden/Porter’s Neck) and surrounding areas with local community travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the client’s home and community.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, personal care (bathing, dressing, toiletry, diaper change), and employment support.
• Transport clients to appointments and run errands as needed.
• Help plan and organize clients’ schedules.
• Maintain daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.
