Job summary

New America is seeking a Digital Director to shape and lead its digital strategy, website, and publishing platforms. You will oversee a four-person Central Communications team and translate organizational goals into a cohesive digital roadmap.

Reporting to the VP of Content and Communications, you will collaborate with editorial, research, development, events, and operations, guiding product development, brand stewardship, and performance measurement.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of relevant professional experience, including leadership of staff.
• Significant experience developing and implementing an organization-wide digital strategy.
• Experience leading digital product development, website management, or related functions.
• Experience with analytics and translating data into strategic recommendations.
• Experience collaborating with senior leaders and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Set vision and strategy for New America’s website, publishing tools, audience channels, and data visualizations.
• Lead digital product roadmap aligning goals, audience needs, and resources with accessibility, UX, privacy, and performance.
• Oversee relationships with web agencies and vendors; manage budgets and timelines.
• Champion user-centered development with analytics, usability testing, and stakeholder feedback.
• Guide governance for content workflows, QA, maintenance, and publishing responsibilities.
• Mentor a multidisciplinary team across web development, marketing, data visualization, and design.
