Job summary

Cox Fleet is hiring a Shop Diesel Technician II to perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and light to heavy repairs in a shop environment. You will diagnose electrical and mechanical systems and support service writers while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role involves following DOT guidelines, traveling to customer locations occasionally, and achieving productivity targets with proper documentation in RO systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 3 years’ related experience or equivalent combinations.
• DOT/FMCSA regulations knowledge; able to successfully complete and pass a DOT background screening and DOT physical.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally as needed.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe operating practices and procedures.
• Independently determine parts required for each job and coordinate with the Parts Department.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and assist with end-of-day cleanup.
• Apply formal training knowledge to perform duties and interpret technical information.
• Work with Service Writer to assess customer needs and provide assistance.
• Manage concurrent tasks with prioritized time allocations.
• Maintain productivity within standard repair times and integrity of RO documentation.
• Complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely fashion.
• Perform PMs, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on trucks in a shop setting.
• Occasionally travel to customer locations for service.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication.
• Use hand tools, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.
• Diagnose and repair electrical/engine systems and related components.
• Adhere to company policies and safety standards.
