Job summary

Penske in Dayton, OH is seeking an experienced Technician II to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on a diverse fleet. You will work independently on major and minor repairs, diagnose issues, and mentor junior technicians while continuing your own development.

Qualifications

• 3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
• Specialized training and experience in diagnosing/troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training, ASE Certification, 608/609 certifications (preferred)
• Experience using tools of the trade (diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools)
• Ability to solve problems and provide excellent customer service and communication
• Ability to work well in a team and to adapt to non-climate-controlled conditions
• Must follow DOT, OSHA and Penske safety policies including PPE and safety practices
• Willingness to travel within the district and pass background checks and drug screening

Responsibilities

• Make sure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers
• Perform preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision
• Repair and troubleshoot engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel systems, etc.
• Keep work area clean and safe
• Log, research and complete repairs using Penske tools and technologies with basic diagnostics
• Learn new skills through Penske's technician training
• Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
