Job summary

Republic Services, Inc. seeks a Maintenance Technician B to repair and maintain diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis, refuse bodies, hydraulic/electrical systems, brakes, engines, HVAC, suspension, drive train, and steering.

You will perform on-site and road service, engage in welding/fabrication, and complete company training programs while contributing to safety and efficiency in a high-tech fleet environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to diagnose multi-system issues and consistently demonstrate technical expertise.
• Basic understanding of work order labor time standards.
• Prior experience with maintenance work on Classes 1-5 light/medium duty and heavy-duty Class 7-8 trucks, aircraft, or ships.
• ASE Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required.
• Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required.
• 3-5 years of experience in a technician position demonstrating knowledge of both gasoline and diesel-powered equipment diagnosis and repair or graduating from an accredited automotive college or technical school within the next 3 months.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a working knowledge of chassis components, refuse bodies, including control, hydraulic and electrical systems; and air and hydraulic braking systems.
• Light engine repair and maintenance; suspension, drivetrain and steering systems; heating and air conditioning.
• Performs line maintenance welding and fabrication; safe road service to ensure equipment is returned to operation safely and efficiently.
• Identifies malfunction sources using a variety of electronic tools; completes required company training programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
