Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair our diesel fleet, including tractors, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and documentation, with potential for additional duties such as paint work.

A high school diploma and applicable ASE/CDL credentials are preferred. Starting rate is $32.36 per hour, with opportunities for higher pay through ASE Master Certification and shift differentials.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of vehicle maintenance experience or completion of FedEx Freight Apprentice Program.
• One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
• Must possess necessary tools to perform tasks.
• Valid driver's license may be required depending on assignment.
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and tools for troubleshooting.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Performs basic diagnostics to identify trouble and makes adjustments for safe operation.
• Works with other technicians on maintenance and repairs.
• Ensures documentation of all maintenance performed in writing and electronically.
• Performs safety inspections of equipment and documents the work.
• Paint and body work on vehicles, as required.
