Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair our diesel tractor fleet, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment. This role emphasizes preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and accurate documentation.

Starting pay is $34.97 per hour with opportunities for increases. Benefits include a $1,000 annual tool reimbursement, ASE certification incentives, and shift differential pay. ASE certifications and a Class A CDL are highly preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Must have 1 year experience performing vehicle maintenance or possess a vehicle maintenance certificate or completion of the FedEx Freight Apprentice Program.
• One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
• Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work assignment.
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and tools for vehicle troubleshooting and repairs.
• Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
• Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
• Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices.
• Able to lift components weighing up to 110 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to operate vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions.
• Paint and body work experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Performs basic diagnostics to identify source of trouble and makes necessary adjustments for safe operation.
• Works with other technicians in performing preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Ensures proper and accurate documentation of all maintenance performed, completes reports in writing and electronically.
• Performs safety inspections of equipment and documents the work.
• Performs paint and body work on vehicles, as required.
• Complies with all applicable laws/regulations and company policies/procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.
