Job summary

Rumpke Waste and Recycling is seeking motivated individuals for a Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship. You will participate in hands-on training to perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on the fleet, with emphasis on safety and compliance with all regulations.

As part of the program, you will work with senior technicians, learn to identify worn components, and gain experience in diagnostics, lubrication, and preventative service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive training to repair and maintain fleet vehicles safely.
• Perform detailed inspections and servicing as preventive maintenance.
• Check, fill and change fluids and replace filters.
• Inspect electrical, air, and brake systems.
• Identify and repair components and operating systems.
• Perform tire maintenance; may pursue TI A certification.
• Ensure safety devices on vehicles function properly.
• Assist senior technicians with repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and organization of tools and area.
• Record time, repair orders and parts usage in computer.
• Travel within the district for training or business needs.
• Other duties as assigned.
