Job summary

Thompson Machinery, serving Middle Tennessee and North Mississippi, is seeking a General Shop Mechanic for its construction equipment service shops. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain Caterpillar diesel-powered equipment, often working independently with mentor support to ensure top service for our customers.

We value hands-on experience, tool proficiency, and a strong work ethic. A valid driver's license is required, with CDL possibly needed for some roles; the role includes practical

Qualifications

• Diesel engine, construction equipment and/or truck engine training through accredited technical schools or relevant military experience preferred.
• Two or more years of hands-on equipment and/or engine experience on diesel-powered equipment or truck engines.
• Must possess a complete set of basic mechanical hand tools.
• Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, adaptability, and strong customer service focus.
• Must have a valid state driver’s license; CDL may be required for some positions.

Responsibilities

• Set up, repair, service, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and installation of replacement parts on Caterpillar diesel-powered construction equipment.
• Work largely independently or with guidance from service mentors.
• Report to a Service Shop Manager and service customers located in company service shops.
