Job summary

Thompson Machinery, a leading Caterpillar dealer in Middle and West Tennessee, is hiring a General Mechanic/Service Shop Technician in Memphis. You will set up, repair, service, diagnose, and install parts on Caterpillar diesel-powered equipment with guidance from service mentors.

You’ll read manuals, interpret schematics, test equipment, and work to deliver safe, timely, high-quality repairs for our customers. A valid driver’s license and tool set are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; diesel/equipment tech training or military experience preferred.
• Two+ years of hands-on equipment/engine experience with diesel-powered equipment or truck engines.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical instruction, service and safety manuals, policies and procedures.
• Work with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics and wiring diagrams; use test equipment.
• Provide high quality repair service and responsive customer support.
