Job summary

GFL is seeking a Mechanic B to diagnose, repair, and maintain our Diesel and CNG fleet in the San Marcos, Texas area. You will perform brake and engine inspections, test drive trucks, and conduct electronic diagnostics while following safety regulations and completing reports and work orders.

The role requires 3+ years of diesel/CNG maintenance experience, and CDL and ASE certifications are preferred. Training and certification opportunities are available to advance your skills.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and related regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively across organizational levels and with customers/vendors.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret safety, operating and maintenance manuals.
• Experience using diagnostic software; computer literate and willing to be trained in software systems.
• Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred, or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
• ASE certifications preferred.
• 3+ years of diesel/CNG maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain GFL’s Diesel and CNG fleet under supervision of maintenance leadership.
• Complete basic inspection of brake systems, engine components, emissions systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings and other parts.
• Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
• Perform electronic diagnostics and repair electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Perform DOT and brake inspections on all vehicles.
• Complete reports, work orders and parts orders; perform admin duties as required daily.
• Adhere to safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Maintain certifications and actively participate in training to enhance skills.
