Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. seeks an experienced diesel/CNG vehicle technician in Texas to diagnose and repair engines, electrical and fuel systems. You will independently inspect brakes and engine components, mentor junior mechanics, and prioritize repairs to ensure timely work orders.

DOT and brake inspections are routine, with strict safety compliance and documentation responsibilities. The role requires strong schematics interpretation, training participation, and maintaining a clean, safe work

Qualifications

Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and related regulations.
Brake safety certificate and 609 A/C system certification.
ASE certifications preferred.
Ability to read schematics and manuals.
Effective communication across organization and with customers/vendors.
Experience using diagnostic software and being computer literate.
CDL preferred or willingness to obtain within six months.
5+ years of diesel/CNG maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair Diesel and CNG powered trucks, including engines, electrical, hydraulics and fuel systems.
Lead inspections of brakes, engine components, emission systems and steering to ensure proper operation.
Provide guidance and mentorship to level B and C mechanics.
Prioritize repairs to maximize efficiency and timely completion of work orders.
Oversee review of mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedules.
Perform DOT and brake inspections on all vehicles.
Complete reports, work orders, order parts and perform administrative duties.
Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with safety regulations.
Interpret intricate electrical and diagnostic schematics.
Participate in training and development opportunities to increase skills.
Maintain a clean work area.
