Job summary

MSD is seeking co-op candidates for a six-month program in Rahway, NJ, within our Research & Development division. The program focuses on device development and risk management for delivery devices, with opportunities to present findings and contribute to regulatory-supported work.

Co-ops will participate in meetings, conduct user research, perform data analysis, and deliver actionable outputs that impact product design and patient care. GPA and strong communication are valued.

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a relevant bachelor’s degree OR a graduate student pursuing a Master’s or PhD in human factors, biomedical engineering, psychology, industrial engineering, usability engineering, biomechanics, cognitive science, or equivalent.
• Available to work full-time for up to 6 months in 2027.
• Strong communication skills (verbal, written, formal presentation) and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience conducting literature reviews and applying risk management and human factors research methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, conducting, and reporting human factors activities including user needs, journeys, usability study planning, and use instructions development.
• Maintain device risk management documentation and update risk control strategies based on postmarket data and feedback.
• Conduct literature/database reviews and synthesize findings for team risk management.
• Perform primary user research using surveys, interviews, and usability testing to explore new directions.
• Analyze data and distill insights into actionable deliverables and projects.
