Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Human Factors Engineer Co-op for the Medical Devices IDHF team in Raritan, NJ. The role centers on human-centered design, usability testing, and cross-functional collaboration to improve patient outcomes.

The candidate will conduct diverse user research, develop usability specifications, and contribute to HF documentation and risk analyses under senior mentorship. On-site at Raritan, May–Aug 2027, with a possible stipend for housing.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a college/institution pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree (PhD possible in related fields).
• 2nd year of bachelor or higher required.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Leverage human factors standards to inform new product designs for safe, effective use.
• Plan, conduct, and report user research activities (ethnography, focus groups, formative usability tests, HF validation).
• Consolidate user feedback into design insights and actionable recommendations.
• Perform root cause analyses for use-related problems during usability testing.
• Understand use environments and contribute to user workflows.
