Job summary

MSD is seeking a Co-op for up to six months at our Wilson, North Carolina site. The position focuses on device and combination product production and processing development technology within the PSDD organization’s Device Development & Technology group.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent (B.S. or M.S. preferred).
• Availability for up to a 6-month Co-op at Wilson, NC site.
• Solid medical device and/or combination product testing knowledge.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and scientific principles.
• Analytical skills: test method development, data analysis, and interpretation.
• Experience with mechanical testing, imaging, and measurement equipment (tensile, microscopy, etc.).
• Excellent collaboration, prototyping, and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawings (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Awareness of GD&T and stack-up analysis.
• Understanding of plastics processing and manufacturing like injection molding, extrusion, blow molding.
• Fluency in FEA and CFD.
• Knowledge of medical devices/pharma/regulated industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in departmental and project team meetings to gain broad perspective on drug development.
• Present research results orally and in writing during the Co-op period.
• Work closely with seasoned scientists on a research project or projects.
• Mentorship from industry scientists and hands-on projects in device production and processing development.
