Job summary

The ALS Association is seeking a mission-driven professional to manage Walk to Defeat ALS revenue events in Kansas. As Manager, Development, you will drive revenue through the Walk program and other events, engaging constituents and building strong donor relationships.

Responsibilities include leading Walk events, growing corporate partnerships, mentoring participants, forecasting revenue, and budgeting. Evening/weekend availability and Missouri/Kansas residency are expected for this remote role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; commitment to lifelong learning.
• 2-5 years of development, sales or fundraising experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Organized with effective prioritization and attention to detail.
• Flexible, adaptable, with an ability to effectively work in teams.
• Understands and implements an integrated fundraising/development approach to best advance the mission.
• Proven and impactful experience in special event fundraising (Walk preferred); knowledge and ability to recruit and secure corporate sponsors and teams.
• Great relationship and interpersonal skills; loves working with people and proven ability to build and manage relationships that help advance an organization’s mission through fundraising and donations.
• Goal-oriented, a high degree of self-initiative, motivation, and discipline.
• Strong computer/technology skills including MS Office, database management, and other web-based software programs. Experience with Salesforce a plus.
• Possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Possess basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Flexibility and availability to work evenings and weekends as needed for this positions events
• Maintains personal auto insurance.
• The employee must occasionally lift and /or move more than 25 pounds

Responsibilities

• Cultivate, develop, and manage event relationships to maximize fundraising and awareness through events/activities.
• Lead all aspects of the Walk to Defeat ALS and Distinguished events in the state, including budgeting and logistics.
• Mentor team captains and participants to grow fundraising plans and engagement.
• Grow corporate partnership initiatives including prospecting, proposals, and stewardship.
• Represent The ALS Association at community events to raise awareness of programs and services.
• Analyze fundraising data to forecast revenue and identify opportunities or challenges.
• Assist in budget creation and oversight for assigned events, tracking donations for stewardship.
• Study the history and programs of the organization to inform strategy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
