Job summary

DeWaard & Bode, Whatcom and Skagit County's largest locally owned appliance and mattress retailer, is growing and looking for an Accounting Associate to join our team. We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable professional to join our Accounting team.

This role involves reviewing invoices, maintaining vendor records, reconciling statements, supporting monthly close, and assisting with accounts receivable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or coursework in Accounting/Finance preferred.
• 1-3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
• Experience with accounting software and business systems preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Technologically savvy and comfortable learning new systems.
• Reliable, organized, and dependable.
• Able to work independently while collaborating with the Controller and other team members.
• Skilled at managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and processing invoices accurately and in a timely manner
• Maintaining vendor records and payment documentation
• Reconciling account statements and resolving discrepancies
• Supporting monthly and quarterly financial reconciliations and reporting
• Assisting with accounts receivable, including payment processing and financing transactions
• Communicating professionally and effectively with vendors, customers, and internal departments
• Handling confidential financial information with discretion and sound judgment
• Supporting additional accounting and administrative projects as needed
