Job summary

The City of Jacksonville is seeking an experienced technical support specialist to evaluate, install, operate, and repair desktop computers, systems, and applications. The role requires strong customer service, on-site training, and adherence to established standards to ensure reliable operation.

Work includes field support, routine maintenance, and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly. Candidates should be comfortable with lifting equipment and driving to branch locations as needed.

Qualifications

Two-year combination of education and/or experience evaluating, installing, operating, repairing and conducting routine maintenance on personal computer hardware, software, operating systems, and peripherals.
Ability to install, operate, maintain and upgrade personal computer hardware and software.
Knowledge of standard software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, database, email, etc.).

Responsibilities

Evaluates, installs, operates, and conducts preventive maintenance on desktop computer equipment, hardware and software.
Responds to trouble calls from users and troubleshoots hardware/software problems.
Implements and deploys new images for hardware refresh on all computer systems.
Trains users on standard and customized software including word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
Performs related duties and maintains desktop systems for field inspectors.
