Job summary

Dale WorkForce Solutions is seeking a Desktop Support Technician for an on-site role in Columbia, SC. The position is a 1-year contract with pay at $20/hour (W2). The incumbent will install and configure workstation software/hardware for IT users and learn documented troubleshooting scripts.

Strong customer service and Tier I support experience are preferred. Requires an Associate Degree in Computer Science or IT and about 1 year of technical operations experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 1 year of technical operations support experience.
• Ability to provide Tier I support for end-user computing hardware and software.
• Ability to identify and follow documented troubleshooting procedures and scripts.

Responsibilities

• 40% Follow established policies and procedures; assist in rollout and installation of workstation software and hardware; perform software updates and moves across sites.
• 40% Maintain workstation hardware and software; replace faulty hardware and address software issues; may order parts and track inventory; ensure tools are licensed.
• 20% Complete data backups/restorations for users; assist customers; test new software/hardware prior to production.

• Job type: 1-year contract position


• Pay: $20/hr W2

Responsible for the installation and configuration of workstation software and hardware for IT users. Learns to identify proper documented procedures and scripts used for troubleshooting end user problems.

• 40% Following established policies and procedures, assists in rollout and installation of workstation software and hardware. Performs software updates and handles moves, computer setup and peripherals from site to site.


• 40% Maintains workstation hardware and software. Replaces hardware that has become faulty and corrects software issues. May order replacement parts and track status/inventory of items. Ensures tools and equipment are licensed and approved by IS purchasing.


• 20% Complete data backups and restorations for users. Assists customers/users and answers questions regarding their equipment. May perform software testing and evaluation of new software and hardware prior to production.

Required Skills And Abilities

• Strong customer service skills.


• Able to identify and follow proper documented procedures and scripts used for troubleshooting problems.


• Able to provide Tier I support to IT users for basic software and hardware of end-user computing and desktop-based LAN systems.


• Familiarity with computer and workstation equipment.

Work Environment: Fast paced, multi-platformed environment which may require action and response 24X7 to support the technical business needs of the customer. Routine transporting of items up to 30 lbs. Transporting items up to 70lbs on occasion.

Required Education & Experience

• Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job related field
