Job summary

UCSF is seeking an experienced Desktop Support professional to provide advanced consultation, training, and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues. The role supports Windows, Mac, printers, and mobile devices, with detailed documentation and end-user training.

The position operates in a 7x24 environment and participates in weekend/on-call rotations. The person will develop technical documentation, assist with hardware/software purchases, and work across a large healthcare

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS or equivalent experience; 1 year extra allowed in lieu of degree.
Minimum 2 years in desktop support/help desk in a complex networked env.
Expert proficiency with MS Windows and Mac OS X; proficient Word, Excel, Outlook troubleshooting.
Ability to advise customers on hardware/software purchases for their needs.
Experience supporting networked workstations, printers, VPN and wireless.
Experience with desktop/laptop/mobile devices (Windows, Mac, Android, iOS).
Strong written/verbal communication; ability to train end users and document processes.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day advanced consultation, training, and troubleshooting for hardware, software, network and devices.
Develop and maintain technical documentation and end-user training materials.
Resolve desktop issues and document in help desk tickets with status updates.
Support a 7x24 environment and participate in weekend/on-call rotations.
Balance technical knowledge with high-level customer service objectives.
