Job summary

TikTok is seeking a Design System Design Intern to evolve Keystone, the design system powering TikTok’s Monetization products. You will work with cross-functional teams to ship scalable system improvements and contribute to core libraries and documentation.

This 12-week, full-time internship in San Jose offers hands-on experience in UI components, accessibility, and design tooling, with benefits including health insurance and housing assistance where eligible.

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Product Design / Interaction Design / HCI / Visual Communication (or equivalent experience).
Strong fundamentals in UI craft and interaction thinking (states, flows, usability).
Comfort working in Figma (components, variants, auto layout, styles/tokens preferred).
Must be able to commit to a 12-week full-time work period during Summer 2027.

Responsibilities

Design or extend components, variants, and patterns (e.g., forms, navigation, tables, empty/error states), and create scalable specs (states, interactions, responsive behavior, accessibility).
Improve usage guidance, do/don’t examples, and rationale to reduce ambiguity for product teams. Help maintain libraries and documentation across Figma + Keystone website.
Assist with UI audits for consistency and system alignment. Support adoption and migration by mapping legacy patterns to Keystone equivalents and clarifying best-practice usage.
Partner with engineers to ensure feasibility and crisp handoff. Participate in critiques and design reviews; incorporate feedback quickly and communicate tradeoffs clearly.
