Job summary

Southland Industries invites you to an internship designed to introduce design-build, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. You will assist the design team, perform calculations, drawings, and specifications under supervision, and coordinate with project management and architects.

This hands-on program offers real duties and potential for full-time opportunities. You will work with senior engineers, gain experience in CADD drafting, and learn to apply codes and criteria in project contexts.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in design tasks as required
• Perform basic deliverables and products such as calculations, drawings, and specifications related to HVAC systems under supervision
• Perform basic calculations for a project, such as heating/cooling loads, equipment sizing, and pipe/duct sizing
• Coordinate project design with management, architects, and other trades through completion
• Perform and check CADD drafting work
• Review applicable codes and field conditions to support design of the project
