Job summary

QISG, part of Quanta Services, is seeking a Design Engineer I to join our transmission line team. You will design, analyze, and support projects to deliver safe and reliable high-voltage infrastructure across communities, helping with new construction, upgrades, and maintenance.

Candidates should hold a Civil/Structural or Mechanical ABET-accredited degree, be proficient with CAD tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS), and understand NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and IBC. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS or similar CAD tools.
• Understanding of design codes such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Support overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling and line routing.
• Use AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS for scaled drawings and mapping.
• Implement engineering redlines with drafting accuracy.
• Perform calculations: voltage drop, cable pulling, flicker, pole loading.
• Prepare joint use authorizations from field data and redlines.
• Ensure compliance with local regs and codes (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC).
• Collaborate with engineers to develop solutions and modifications.
• Maintain project documentation and support calculations.
