Job summary

QISG, part of Quanta's energy infrastructure team, seeks a Design Engineer for transmission lines to design, analyze, and upgrade high-voltage facilities. You will use AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ArcGIS to create scalable drawings, route structures, and perform load calculations for reliable grid delivery.

You will collaborate with engineers to ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, while maintaining thorough project documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 2+ years of related experience with routing and design of high voltage overhead transmission line facilities.
• Proficiency in CAD tools: AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS.
• Experience with power distribution engineering software (PLS-POLE, TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD preferred).
• Understanding of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC.
• Ability to travel as necessary, up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Perform, lead, and oversee all engineering responsibilities related to overhead transmission line design, including modeling and routing.
• Utilize CAD software for scaled drawings and mapping.
• Prepare joint utility use authorizations based on field data and engineer redlines.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and construction standards.
• Maintain detailed project documentation and calculations.
• Work 40 hours per week with potential for up to 50 hours and overtime.
